Financial companies choose how they share your personal information. Federal law gives consumers the right to limit some but not all sharing. Federal law also requires us to tell you how we collect, share, and protect your personal information. Please read this notice carefully to understand what we do.

What we do
How does DCI protect my personal information? To protect your personal information from unauthorized access and use, we use security measures that comply with federal law. These measures include computer safeguards and secured files and buildings. We maintain physical, electronic and procedural safeguards to guard personal information. We restrict access to those who have a business need. We educate our employees on the importance of confidentiality. How does collect my personal information? We collect your personal information, for example, through your application or enrollment in a DCI debt management plan. Why can’t I limit all sharing? Federal law gives you the right to limit only
- Sharing for affiliates’ everyday business purposes—information about your creditworthiness
- Affiliates from using your information to market to you
- Sharing for nonaffiliates to market to you
State laws and individual companies may give you additional rights to limit sharing. What happens when I limit sharing for an account I hold jointly with someone else? In that case, your choice will apply to everyone on your account.
Definitions
Affiliates
Companies related by common ownership or control. They can be financial and nonfinancial companies.
Nonaffiliates
Companies not related by common ownership or control. They can be financial and nonfinancial companies.
Joint marketing
A formal agreement between nonaffiliated financial companies that together market financial products or services to you.
Privacy Act For Credit Counseling
Section 111 of title 11, United States Code, authorizes the collection of the information requested in the Application and Appendices. The primary use of this information is by the United States Trustee to approve Agencies to provide services as nonprofit budget and credit counseling agencies. Disclosure of this information may be to an appropriate federal, state, local, regulatory, tribal, or foreign law enforcement agency when the information indicates a violation or potential violation of law, or to a complainant or victim when such information is necessary to provide an explanation concerning the results of an investigation of which they complained or were a victim. Other disclosures may be made pursuant to the routine uses enunciated in the United States Trustee Program’s system of records notice, UST-005, “Credit Counseling and Debtor Education Files and Associated Records.” See 71 Fed. Reg. 59,818, 59,727-59,830 (Oct. 11, 2006). Additional disclosure of the information may be to district and regional offices of each United States Trustee. The information will not be shared with any other agencies unless allowed by law.
